Please see images.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThis impressive slab built vase is a wonderful creation by Laurel Keeley, decorated in semi abstract style with a thick crackled glaze painted over a ground textured and coloured with oxides, and finished with gilt added in a third firing on two patterns, one of rectangular panels, and the other of fish.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe vase nicely illustrates Laurel's own description of her work - \"My thrown, coiled and slab built pots are vehicles for designs of fish and fields, rivers, canals and glimpses of the world through windows.\"\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe vase is signed on the base by Laurel with her date code for 2007.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eLaurel Keeley was born in Essex in 1952.  She studied English and Art in Exeter and Toronto before attending Exeter College of Art and Design for post graduate study in the Fine Art Ceramics department. One of a few ‘mature’ students, she taught by the exceptionally talented Brian Southwell and Lawson Rudge\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eLaurel's first pottery was established in the late 1970’s, in Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon.
