He started his own workshop in 1918.  All of his work was hand made.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe vase has been thrown by hand (it has the original label \"Tourné a la main\") and decorated with deeply carved designs including a lion passant, stylised foliage and a Greek Style border. It has two handles closely applied to each side.  The design is picked out in a black glaze against a pale ash glaze ground. On the base is the Guerin impressed stamp and an incused number 632.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThe vase has been fired in a wood fired kiln to about 1250 degrees centigrade (stoneware).  This was the technique invariably used by Guerin and it followed the local tradition of pottery making in the area of Bouffioulx.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eGuerin won a medal at the Paris Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in 1925 and was exhibited in 1937 as well as internationally.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e","brand":"Chester's Farm Gallery","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53372485992785,"sku":null,"price":140.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1032\/4312\/0977\/files\/Guerinvase_1.jpg?v=1777890147","url":"https:\/\/chestersfarmgallery.com\/products\/roger-guerin-belgium-art-deco-stoneware-vase-with-lion-design-c1930","provider":"Chester's Farm Gallery","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
