Chris Keenan, large studio pottery porcelain bowl,c2000, mirror black glaze

Condition: Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or restoration.  The bowl does not have a very clear ring when tapped - it has a quite low ring - but I have looked very closely for any cracks and cannot find any, so the lack of a ring is probably just on account of the bowl's size.

This lovely porcelain bowl is finished in Chris Keenan's signature mirror black tenmoku glaze, with an ash glaze applied round the rim which bleeds into the tenmoku.

Chris began working with clay in his mid-thirties when he was apprenticed to the potter Edmund de Waal. He makes work for domestic spaces – pots to be used, handled and looked at. He is a Craft Potters Association Fellow and teaches at West Dean College. His work is held in several public collections including the V&A and the Ashmolean Museum. Recently he was artist-in-residence at the Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art in Japan.
