David Hemingsley, studio pottery stoneware vase, Leach/Crowan influence, c1970

Size:  14 cm tall, approx 12 cm wide.

Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration.

A really nice stoneware vase, thrown with a neat rim and scored and painted decoration in Japanese style, also showing the influence of Leach/Crowan pottery.

David Hemingsley was born in Birmingham and studied art there, before working with Harry Davis at Crowan pottery in Cornwall and George Cook at Ambleside in the Lake District. After a spell as Head of Ceramics at Belfast College of Art he opened his own studio in 1973 at Balbirnie in Fife, Scotland, which he ran for 20 years.  He exhibited widely and his work is help in various museums and galleries.
