Ian Gamble is a graduate of the Ballarat School of Mines (Federation University, Victoria). He exhibited with the Victorian Ceramic Group in the 1980s and 1990s. An expert thrower, he made vases glazed white with colourful hand-painted floral decoration Several very large examples of his work can be viewed at the Convent Gallery, Daylesford.
This superb vase is in his signature style, hand thrown porcelain or white stoneware clay, with a hand painted design all round in several colours, depicting a Victorian landscape, and high fired with a matte glaze. It is signed on the base I. Gamble and dated '97.
