Made in Cley handmade studio pottery large stoneware soup tureen and stand c2000

Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration. There is slight crazing to the inside of the tureen, which would not affect its performance as a n ovenproof and dishwasher proof dish.

This lovely set is made by the well known pottery Made in Cley, in the village of Cley in North Norfolk.  The pottery has a well established reputation for high quality hand made studio pottery for domestic and decorative use.

The tureen (which could be used as a serving dish and also a casserole for the oven) comes complete with its own stand.  The set is in stoneware which is fired to 1300 degrees centigrade and is fully ovenproof.

This tureen is in one of the pottery's standard glaze combinations of a dark green with tenmoku glaze rims. In the typical style of the pottery, the throwing rings are evident and the work is robust stoneware, designed for functional use, but with a lovely glossy sheen and an honest elegance.
