This jug, suitable for sauce or cream, is made with the same delicacy of potting touch and elegance of decoration as all of Toff Milway's work, and it has a lustrous salt glaze finish. It is marked at the base of the handle with Toff's stamp and it also has painted marks on the bottom which are not too clear.
Toff Millway is passionate about his wares being functional, for lovers of good pottery in the use of food or gardening. His home and pottery is at Conderton in Gloucestershire. He trained at Harrow School or Art and learned the art of salt glaze and kiln building from Mick Casson and Wally Keeler, among others, and has worked in Africa, France and the USA. Salt glaze is his speciality and today he is one of the technique's finest practitioners, achieving a bright high-fired finish which many would envy.
