£260.00
Size: 23.5 cm tall.
Condition: Very good condition, no chips cracks or restoration. Slight wear to the gilding on the rim.
The superb vase is made in porcelain with iris-like flowers first formed in low relief and painted with coloured glazes and then further enhanced with separately fired on gilt. The white parts of the flowers are the glazed but unpainted porcelain surface
The high quality piece was made for the boutique London retailer Max Emanuel in about 1900 and is marked with their "Mosanic" mark consisting of three stacked rifles. It is further marked with a printed "Manufactured in Austria" and has impressed numbers 12 and 169 on the foot-rim.
Max Emanuel bought the Mitterteich porcelain factory in 1895, three years after it began supplying them with their trademarked Mosanic wares. The retailer's wares were varied in style and scope. This vase is at the high end of their quality range and by its style fairly early.
