Dr Christopher Dresser, Mintons/Minton, porcelain vase, cloisonné style, 1869

Size: 19.5 cm tall.

Condition: Very good condition. No chips cracks or restoration. Very slight wear to gilding on the rim. Some slight scratch marks to the main body.

This is an elaborate example of the "cloisonné ware" designed by Christopher Dresser, and made by Mintons between 1868 and 1870. It  is particularly nice because of the extensive decoration around the main body which is lacking in some versions. The decoration around the neck is more specifically a Dresser design, and the base, modelled to look like a carved hardwood stand, is in this version coloured that way with gilt highlights, rather than being all gilt in some other versions.

This design by Dresser is very well documented and it is a classic  example of Dresser design. Inside the base is the impressed Minton's mark and also the date code for 1869 (please note this is difficult to photograph).
