Jennie Hale, large raku sculpture of a Goose

Size:  40 cm (16 inches) tall.

Condition:  The goose would appear to have been left outside for a while, and does have some losses to the surface as a result. Please see the images.  There are no cracks, chips or repairs.

This large Goose figure is typically quirky in Jennie Hale's style.  It is a great piece of garden sculpture, which is why it appears to have lived outside for a while, but we would recommend that it lives now in a dry and reasonably stable environment.

After studying Ceramics at Art school, Jennie worked as Marianne de Trey’s workshop assistant at Shinners bridge Pottery, then set up her first pottery in West Devon.  Her pottery is now situated by the side of Colliford Lake on Bodmin moor in Cornwall.  Jennie take her inspiration from the rich landscape, and especially the flora and fauna around her, and has made ceramics using various techniques, including salt glaze stoneware, cearhtenware and raku.

In 2007 A&C Black published The Nature Diary of an Artist, a compilation of illustrated diaries that Jennie started in 1994, filled with notes and drawings direct from nature.

Jennie's work is bold and adventurous and this large piece is a great example.
