John Sell Cotman (1782-1842) is recognised as one of the great early English watercolourists. He also painted in oils and made etchings. In 1811 his first set of etchings were published, and he followed them with a set of 60 etchings of ancient buildings in Norfolk, entitled Specimens of Norman and Gothic Architecture in the County of Norfolk. They were published in parts between 1812 and 1818, and this print is dated 1817.
A lovely example of early 19th century antiquarian art. This is guaranteed an original print of the period.
