Pauline S Hall SWLA, Colobus Monkeys, woodcut print, artist's proof

Size:  Frame 41 x 49 cm, print inside mount 25.5 x 32 cm.

Condition: Print in excellent condition, mount and frame new.

This superb print is beautifully composed and make great use of the three colours used.  It is signed by the artist and titled Black and White Colobus Monkeys, and marked as a artist's proof (the edition was probably small, certainly less than 50).

Pauline Sophie Hall (1918-2007)
Printmaker, born in Birmingham who after attending Birmingham University and Oxford University where she obtained degrees in physiology and zoology and then travelled to South Africa. In Cape Town she enrolled at the Michaelis School of Art, in 1955-60. Returning to the UK in 1960 Hall exhibited with the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and with the Society of Wildlife Artists who elected her a member in 1964. Inspired initially by her time in Africa she was much associated with wildlife conservation movements. The Dorset Naturalists’ Trust, Dorset County Museum old examples of her work and she held a solo exhibition at the Shakespeare Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon, 1984.
