R Whiteley, Box of Apples, oil on board, c1975, framed

Size:  Frame 64 x 52 cm. Actual painting 56 x 44 cm.

Condition:  Overall very good condition, some scratches top centre (see images).

This very good and unusual still life is not signed but it is reliably labelled on the back as being by R Whiteley and titled "Box of Apples" (see provenance below).

The painting is on Daler Board with a canvas style finish, which was in use in the mid 1970s. 

Provenance:  The painting is from the collection of the Derbyshire Museums School Library Service, which was disbanded a couple of years ago.  The Service has a wide collection built up from the 1940s to the 1980s including pieces by well known and lesser known artists.
