Ray Finch, Winchcombe pottery jar and cover, salt glazed stoneware, 2002

Size: Height with lid 13 cm, width about 11.5 cm

Condition: Excellent condition, no chips cracks or restoration.

This is a lovely example of Ray Finch's work, well potted and nicely fired.

Finch (1914-2012) was a major influence on the famous Winchcombe pottery where he first worked with Michael Cardew as an assistant and continued for the rest of his working life. Winchcombe and Finch produced the same product throughout - well crafted and well designed table ware. Finch was responsible for developing stoneware at the pottery.

This jar is Ray's personal work and bears his personal seal. It was purchased from him in Rufford, Nottinghamshire, in 2002.
